Meh gives Root his last chance

 The battlefield was silent.

Root stood across from Meh, his head lowered. Around them, the other heroes watched carefully. Everyone knew Root had betrayed Meh before—and this was the last time Meh was willing to hear him out.

Meh stepped forward.

“Root.”

Root looked up.

“I know what you’ve done,” Meh said. “I know the damage you caused. And honestly, I should probably walk away.”

Root stayed quiet.

“But I’m giving you one last chance.”

Everyone gasped.

Root’s eyes widened. “You… are?”

“Yeah,” Meh replied. “But understand this: one mistake, one betrayal, one lie, and it’s over. No more chances.”

Root slowly nodded.

“I won’t waste it.”

Meh extended his hand.

“Then prove it.”

Root grabbed Meh’s hand.

For the first time in a long time, Root wasn’t trying to defeat Meh.

He was trying to earn his trust.

And somewhere in the distance, a mysterious figure watched them.

“Interesting…” the figure whispered. “Let’s see how long Root lasts.”

Meh suddenly turned toward the darkness.

“Root.”

“Yeah?”

“Your last chance starts now.”

The two stood side by side.

The next chapter of their story had begun.
