Part 2: The Biggest Twist Yet

The battlefield was silent.

Root stood over Destruction Man, thinking the fight was finally over.

Then…

CRACK.

A strange black crack appeared beneath them.

Root froze.

“That wasn’t me.”

Destruction Man stopped smiling.

“I know.”

Suddenly, the crack exploded open.

BOOOOOOM!

Both heroes were thrown across the battlefield.

From inside the crater came a strange energy.

Root stared into it.

“What is that?”

Destruction Man slowly stood up.

“I’ve seen that energy before.”

Root looked at him.

“Where?”

Destruction Man pointed toward the crater.

“Inside me.”

Root’s eyes widened.

The black energy suddenly wrapped around Destruction Man.

WHOOSH!

His destruction powers began going completely out of control.

Mountains cracked.

Trees disappeared.

The sky turned dark.

Root shouted, “STOP! You’re destroying everything!”

Destruction Man yelled back:

“I’M NOT DOING THIS!”

Root realized something terrifying.

Destruction Man wasn’t controlling the power.

The power was controlling him.

Root launched vines toward him, trying to hold him back.

But the black energy destroyed every vine instantly.

Then a voice echoed from the crater.

“Finally… the two powers have found each other.”

Root turned around.

“Who said that?”

A shadowy figure appeared inside the crater.

Destruction Man stared at him.

“No…”

Root asked, “You know him?”

Destruction Man’s expression changed.

“That’s Dr. Null Vector.”

Root stepped back.

“Dr. Null Vector?!”

Dr. Null Vector smiled.

“I didn’t create Destruction Man.”

He pointed at Root.

“I created the power inside him.”

Root suddenly understood.

The fight between Root and Destruction Man hadn’t been random.

It had been planned.

Dr. Null Vector needed Root’s plant energy and Destruction Man’s destruction energy to activate something called…

THE ZERO CORE.

The ground began shaking.

Root looked at Destruction Man.

“Then we have to stop him.”

Destruction Man looked back.

“For once…”

He raised his fist.

“…we agree.”

Root’s vines wrapped around his arm.

ROOT + DESTRUCTION MAN

Dr. Null Vector laughed.

“Perfect.”

Behind him, the Zero Core began opening.

And inside it…

was something that looked exactly like Meh’s face.
